Children are often hit hardest by crisis' such as famine, epidemic and armed conflict. Therefore, a large portion of our patient population are children.
Most of the medical work as a paediatrician in the field consists of the supervision and training of local medical staff, the planning and implementation of medical programs, ordering of medicines and medical supplies, implementation of epidemiological studies and evaluation and reporting of medical activities.
In projects such as refugee camps, where MSF is responsible for the population's health, a large part of the mission is curative clinical work. In projects where we support existing national health infra-structure, the work is sometimes clinical.
