A medical team during surgery in South Sudan.

Surgical nurses are a part of surgical teams and are needed in precarious situations such as armed conflicts or in isolated areas, where medical staff with that specialisation and competence is hard to find.

Our surgical projects deal with trauma, orthopaedic, gynaecology and general surgery. As a surgical nurse with Médecins Sans Frontières you will face new challenges that will test your abilities in different ways.

Role description

MSF surgical nurses are responsible for sterilization of instruments, hygiene, coaching and training of locally hired staff. In some projects the role is of a more coordinating nature, focusing on organisation and activity management rather than direct clinical care.
