Surgical nurses are a part of surgical teams and are needed in precarious situations such as armed conflicts or in isolated areas, where medical staff with that specialisation and competence is hard to find.
Our surgical projects deal with trauma, orthopaedic, gynaecology and general surgery. As a surgical nurse with Médecins Sans Frontières you will face new challenges that will test your abilities in different ways.
MSF surgical nurses are responsible for sterilization of instruments, hygiene, coaching and training of locally hired staff. In some projects the role is of a more coordinating nature, focusing on organisation and activity management rather than direct clinical care.
In addition to the general requirements to work for MSF, you need:
- Proof of specialisation
- Nurse registration in Sweden or Finland
- Ability to work with limited technical resources
- French speaking
- Knowledge of Spanish, Portuguese, Arabic and/or Russian
- Experience of people management and/or activity management
- Experience of providing training and/or coaching others
- Previous humanitarian work experience
